Charity Cloud, Air Arabia’s award-winning corporate social responsibility program today celebrated 10 years since the launch of its first project.

‘Charity Cloud’ program was launched by Air Arabia in partnership with Sharjah Charity International as an initiative for social and economic development of underprivileged communities around the world. The initiative is focused on building and operating educational and healthcare projects in needy communities across the Air Arabia destination network. The program marked its first successful first project in 2007 by launching the first ‘Charity Cloud Clinic’ in the remote area of Jallas in Sudan.

Till date, ‘Charity Cloud’ has built multiple clinics and schools in various communities in the region. Charity Cloud Clinics are spread across Sudan, Yemen, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Egypt while Charity Cloud schools are operating in Sri Lanka, India, Turkey and Nepal. A New ‘Charity Cloud’ school is currently being built in Egypt to provide education to 400 local students.

Since inception, over 70,000 patients received medical treatments across Charity Cloud Clinics and at present, over 30,000 patients are treated annually. Each of Charity Cloud schools caters to some 300 student every year. In addition, the programme has launched over 70 aid-campaigns in over 12 countries across the Middle East, North Africa and Asia over the past 10 years.

Construction has already begun for a new two-storey ‘Charity Cloud’ school in Egypt, which aims to provide education to 400 students at the primary, middle and secondary school levels.

In 2014 and 2016, ‘Charity Cloud’ was crowned the ‘Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative of the Year’ title at the one of the region’s most prestigious awards ceremony.

Charity Cloud accepts donations exclusively from passengers on board Air Arabia flights, through special envelopes that are available in their seat.

Air Arabia currently operates flights to 125 destinations in 35 countries from five hubs across the Middle East and North Africa.
